Plans aren't something I'm very fond of. I'm not a planner. I don't really remember a time where I ever was. Sitting down and planning things sort of sucks out the fun of things for me. I feel that once there's a plan in place I'm stuck. There's no wiggle room. And I like my wiggle room. I love my freedom to decide whether I want to do something or not. I want to be able to change my mind at the last minute without worrying about the other people involved.

Plans are limiting, in my opinion at least. I feel that when you make plans your so focused on sticking to that plan that when things go off track, and your faced with new obstacles, surprises, and new opportunities, you don't necessary know how to deal with it. All because it wasn't part of the plan.

I'm the type of person who is quick to 'chuck it in the fuck it bucket'. If things go off course then so be it. That's apparently how it was suppose to be in the first place. Nothing goes according to plan. Literally nothing. My life wouldn't be the way it is now if thing had gone according to 'plan'.

I wouldn't have graduated high school in 3 years, I would of stayed the full 4. My brother wouldn't be married to a wench and in the military. We wouldn't be living where we do now. I wouldn't have taken a semester of school off. I would have been graduating with my Bachelors this May. That boy would of never be a part of my life. The list goes on and on. But if it hadn't been for those unexpected plan changes, I wouldn't be this person that I am today. I wouldn't be in a place in my life where I have the time to explore the things I want to do and focus completely on me.

Plans are necessary for some people. That's completely okay. If it works for you then so be it. Plan away. But if planning isn't your thing, don't feel pressured to have a plan. Much less stick to it. You don't need to have it all figured out and written down on a spread sheet. If you are a go with the flow person, if you are a non planner who just takes everything one step at a time then do that. Do what works for you. Just don't let the unexpected make you falter.

  1. I like this. When I was in high school I was such a planner, but like you said, not much actually goes that way. In college, I'm learning to find a median of the two .I like to plan but I also need to expect other things.

    1. It's so easy to want to plan but it's not practical. It's nice in theory, not so much in reality. I'm glad your learning what works for you!
