Doors work both ways. We all know that. We've gone in and out of them numbers of times. We've been through swinging doors, revolving doors, and doors that don't even look like doors. Shit I've even exited through open windows.

How many times have we walked into someones life through a door and walked right back out the same door later on. We leave when we've decided we've had enough. Or when things just aren't right for us anymore. There is nothing wrong with that. We decide when we come and go. Not them.

But what happens when it's on the other foot. What about when someone is eyeing the door into our lives? What about when they are eyeing the door out?

It's hard to let people in. I struggle with it all the time. But alot of the time it's probably better for us to let someone in. Shutting them out and blocking the door isn't going to help us. We're just preventing the inevitable. I know once they're in, they're in. Thing is people are meant to come into our lives, it just doesn't mean they were meant to stay in our life.

We all know their are seasons and when it comes to people, alot of them are just meant for a season. They are there for a reason. But the second they want out. If they look alittle flighty. If for a second you are questioning their presence in your life go to that door and hold it open. Open it so they can leave. Don't let anyone stay in your life longer than they are meant to.

If a person has one foot out the door and another foot in. It's time to give them a little push right on out. You don't need half assed people in your life. If they can't be there all the way then you don't need them at all.

No one is worth taking up space in your life. Either they are meant to be there or they're not. So if they want to leave, hold the door open for them and wish them luck on their way.

  1. I really struggle letting people in too, if you do, they have the ability to hurt you. But I completely agree, I've had to shut out some particularly poisonous people out of my life for which people have made me feel guilty for but I don't, because they don't deserve to be in your life if all they cause is pain. So glad I have found your blog!

    1. I'm so glad you enjoyed the post! Some people you need to shut out and there will always be people who have something to say about it. The way I see it is if you don't look out for yourself then who will? Putting yourself first is necessary somethings.

  2. You really have a talent with words! That's a perfect analogy about people leaving one foot in the door - some seem to have one foot each through different doors and you're left with your door wide open to hurt. Ahh, life!

  3. This is gorgeous. We always used to say to eachother "if you want to leave, I'll hold the door open for you" and I think that's a good way to look at it - I would rather people walked back out through the door of my life than stood there with no intention to ever really want to be there.

    1. Exactly! It's a good way to look at it. There shouldn't be room for people who cant make up their mind if they want to be apart of our lives.
